FESN – Federation of the European Societies of Neuropsychology

The FESN – Federation of the European Societies of Neuropsychology – is a consortium of 17 European Societies of neuropsychology. It was founded in 2008 by 13 national associations. It represents experts in the field of neuropsychology, including cognitive neuropsychology, clinical neuropsychology, behavioural neurology, neuroimaging and neuropsychological rehabilitation. The federation supports further development of scientific and clinical neuropsychological domains.

Main objectives of FESN

The main objectives of the Federation are to advance scientific and professional issues within the field of neuropsychology including cognitive neuropsychology, clinical neuropsychology, behavioural neurology, neuroimaging, and neuropsychological rehabilitation.

Such objectives will be pursued by holding periodical scientific conferences, encourage and help to develop European programmes of clinical and experimental neuropsychological research. Related to professional issues, the Federation will stimulate, encourage and help to develop programmes of pre- and postgraduate training, and activities such as continuing education, and standards and guidelines of clinical practice.

The Federation will also engage in other activities that contribute to the advancement of neuropsychology and related topics within Europe and will liaise with other relevant scientific and clinical bodies in planning and fostering such activities.

The Hellenic Neuropsychological Society (HNPS)

The Hellenic Neuropsychological Society (HNPS) was founded in 2014 as the first and only scientific society for Neuropsychology in Greece. The HNPS has the mission to promote the high-level scientific and professional work of Neuropsychologists in Greece. The HNPS focuses on research, clinical practice, education and the applications of scientific knowledge.

The members of HNPS are actively involved in human Neuropsychology in clinical, research and academic settings. A significant proportion of HNPS members are research active in publishing in international peer review scientific journals. The majority of HNPS members practice professionally as clinical psychologists and neuropsychologists, however the society offers membership to professionals, students and academics with a special interest in neuropsychology (i.e. psychologists, cognitive psychologists, neuroscientists, neurologists, psychiatrists, neurosurgeons, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, rehabilitation experts, social workers).

The HNPS holds a Full Membership in the Federation of the European Societies of Neuropsychology (FESN), and is represented in the FESN Council, since 2016. On 2018 the HNPS collaborated with the Association of Greek Psychologists and elected a representative in the Standing Committee of Clinical Neuropsychology of the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA).

The HNPS participates in Forums and in Conferences and holds collaborations and affiliations with important national and international institutions, academic stakeholders and other scientific societies and societies for patients. As a result of the society’s creative and productive extroversion, the HNPS co-organizes the 8th Scientific Meeting of the FESN, together with the 2nd Panhellenic Conference in Neuropsychology.
